What I’m Reading Wednesday

2018 has been a very very slow and slumpy reading year for me so far and I’ve only read one five star read so far, which isn’t great considering it’s November. However, I think I’m reading two possible five star reads right now.

Miss Peregrine

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – Ransom Riggs

Thoughts so far: I am absolutely flying through this book! I love every single one of the characters, I love the world and I love the way in which the photographs have been incorporated into the story. I especially love the beautiful imagery Ransom Riggs uses throughout the novel. This is looking to be a five out of five star read.

A Discovery of Witches

A Discovery of Witches – Deborah Harkness

Thoughts so far: I think this is going to be my second five out of five star read of the month!  Although I’m not far through this loooong book, I have watched the first season of the TV show and I absolutely loved it. I loved the romance and I hope it is as good in the book. I really enjoy the different creatures and their stereotypes and the way they have specific talents depending on the type of creature. I adore the setting of Oxford.

silent companions

The Silent Companions – Laura Purcell

Thoughts so far: I’m finding this book quite slow at the moment and I feel like I’m taking SO long to read it. It’s also not as creepy as I expected it to be. However, I have faith that this book will pick up as I read further into the story as I have a feeling the slow pace may be to build up tension.

Let me know if you’ve read any of the above books and what you thought of them. Thanks for reading!

What I’m Reading Wednesday

Hi everyone!

What I’m Reading Wednesday is something that I started a while ago to keep track of what I am reading on a weekly basis. I haven’t written a What I’m Reading Wednesday for a while because of exams and such.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Daughter of Smoke and Bone – Laini Taylor

Thoughts so far: I can already tell that I’m going to love this whole trilogy. I love Laini Taylor’s use of imagery and I really enjoy the small doses of humour in this book. I can’t wait to continue with this book!

The Unexpected Everything

The Unexpected Everything – Morgan Matson

Thoughts so far: This is the perfect post-exam contemporary read! I love the Summer setting, the friendship and, of course, the dogs. I’m really really enjoying this book so far.

Let me know what you’re reading at the moment in the comments.

Thanks for reading!
